Sensei Blaine Asay began the study and practice of Shoshin Ryu in 2006 in Los Alamos NM under the tutelage of Sensei Lisa Smole. Since that time he has attended specialized seminars with topics such as knife and stick techniques from Guru Ray Dianoldo, ground work with Sensei Chris Peterson, throws with Senseis Bair and Campbell, as well as brown and black belt Gasshukus, and also individualized training with Senseis Combo and Coniaris. He began instructing in Atchison Kansas in 2013 with the assistance of his wife, Patrice, where they currently teach both youth and adults.
Trained as an engineer and also a pilot, Sensei Asay enjoys studying and applying the sound scientific basis of Shoshin Ryu as well as the fundamental principles illustrated in the Kokoro series.
